He was an activist, intellectual, writer and performer: a key figure on the Italian cultural scene. During his life, he had a complicated relationship with his parents and, in his twilight years, with his partner Umberto Pasti, with whom he had an intense love affair. Although Mario died in 1983, the legacy of his fight still lives on today.
